Spinner SpinnerSpinner Spinner settles “where should we eat?” One person starts a game, friends join on their own phones, and a wheel of open restaurants nearby spins on every screen at once. Everyone gets one veto. When nobody vetoes, that's dinner.
No accounts and no passwords: just a first name.
1.Common questions
How do I join a game?
Any of these works:
- Tap the link the leader shares. It opens the app, or the web page if you don't have the app. Friends can play in their browser.
- Type the code: six letters and numbers on the leader's screen. There are no O's or zeros, so there's no guessing.
- Join nearby: if you're with the leader, open the app, tap “Join parties nearby” and pick their party.
Games hold up to 12 players. You can join until the first spin.
How do vetoes work?
Each player gets one veto per game. After the wheel lands, there are 15 seconds to use it. A veto knocks that restaurant off the wheel, and it spins again.
- If two people veto the same spin, only the first counts. The other keeps theirs.
- When the wheel lands and nobody vetoes, or everyone's veto is used up, that's the pick.
- The last restaurant left on the wheel can't be vetoed.
I said no to location. Can I still play?
Yes. When you start a game, type a ZIP code or city instead, and we'll search around there.
To turn location on later, open the iPhone Settings app, go to Spinner Spinner → Location, and choose While Using the App. Spinner Spinner never uses your location in the background.
Joining by link or code never needs your location.
How does “join nearby” work?
When a leader starts a game using their location, it shows up for phones within about 100 meters, so friends in the same restaurant see it, until the first spin.
If you allow Bluetooth, games right next to you get a Right here tag and go to the top of the list. The leader's phone broadcasts a code that changes every minute, and nothing is stored.
Asking to join sends your first name to the leader, who has to tap ✓ to let you in.
Can the leader remove someone?
Yes. The leader approves nearby join requests and can remove any player from the game.
The restaurant info was wrong.
Names, hours, ratings and photos come from Google Maps. We can't edit them, but you can suggest an edit on the place in Google Maps. It's always worth calling ahead to check hours.
What happens to my data?
Very little is kept. Game rooms delete themselves about 2 hours after they go idle. The Privacy Policy has the details.
